Anyone who reads this column very regularly knows I love my iPhone. The thing that sets it apart is the iPhone App Store. There is something for everyone there. I stumbled across two cool little FREE applications recently. Both of them are a little bit practical and a lot of fun.
The first one in called "Bump". I was at lunch the other day at a restaurant where a casual friend is the manager. Knowing she was as much of an iPhone nut as me I asked her if she had "Bump." Sure enough she did so we both grabbed our iPhones and loaded the program. Once the iPhones were ready we held them up and "bumped" our hands together. Almost magically each our respective contact details were transferred to the other’s device. That was a whole lot better then typing it all in.
The second iPhone app is really fun. It is called "Dishview."
Ever gone to a restaurant and seen something on the menu you didn’t recognize? Just pull out your iPhone, open "Dishview" and search for the dish. A freaking photograph (sometimes several) pop up and show you what you’re getting into. It is great fun. And the way they build the database is they want YOU to be taking pictures and submitting them. It really is fun and if you ever end up in a real exotic place it could be a godsend. Ever been to one of those Chinese places that have pictures on the menu? Same idea.
