iPhone Apps for travel nurses

A lot of you know I am both a gadget freak and an iPhone aficiando.

I don’t think the iPhone is the greatest cell phone out there but as a one-gadget- tool for everyday use, nothing yet compares to the iPhone Apps catalog of applications. My personal iPhone is loaded with apps. Three of them stand out as something someone on a travel nursing job assignment might be interested in getting.

Kayak. I have been using the regular Kayak website for years. It is far and away the best travel site out there. All you do is put in the details of a flight (trip) you want to take and it will check with almost every airline and find you the lowest cost flight available. Once the results are up you can begin tweaking the details such as when you want to go and come back and whether you are willing to take a layover somewhere to get a lower price. You can also click on hotels or car rentals and it will automatically use the same dates and get you the information. The iPhone app is not as full featured as the real site but it is an excellent way to get fare ideas while you are out and about. I like this app a lot.

Another on you might like is called Tuner. This is basically an Internet radio. I use it a lot when I am out of town and am longing to listen to some hometown news or a favorite hometown radio station. Once the app is loaded you simply plug in your earplugs and start the app. You can select a genre of stations all over the US or you can pick from your bookmarked stations to listen to one of your favorites. Very nice.

Finally, a very handy app if your are want to find a free WIFI hotspot near  you download FREE WiFi.This handy apps turns your iPhone into a hotspot finder. You can tell it to find one close to your current location or just type in city or zip codes and it will generate a list. I use my laptop while on the go all of the time and this has come in very handy when looking for a location.

I hope this helps. Travel nursing means you are on the go too and I thought these apps may be something you wanted to hear about too.
