Health insurance. Sometimes when I deal with something every day I just assume my readers know the basics and I forget how important things like travel nurse health insurance gets ignored. This is one of the most important employee benefits there is and I can’t believe I have never addressed it here. When you work through a travel nursing agency you (most of the time) become an employee of the travel nursing AGENCY. You don’t work for the hospital. They contract for your “turn key” services with the travel nurse agency. The agency provides your benefits, one of which is health insurance.
Be sure you ask about this! When does it start? When does it end? What are my options when my assignment ends? Your recruiter is the place to get this question answered because it can differ from agency to agency.
As I always tell you….Assume NOTHING! Make sure you see this in your contract. It is nothing to worry about just be sure to ask.
