What is an HCA hospital?

What is an HCA hospital?  What are the advantages/disadvantages of taking assignments at these facilities?  Does taking an assignment at an HCAhospital affect future assignments or possible permanent placement at oneof these facilities?Thank you!

Hi Michelle. Not real clear what the question is here but let me try. HCA stands for the Hospital Corporation of America. They are a large public chain of hospitals and they have facilities all over the United States. You can find out more about them if you "Google" the term.

As far as the benefits of working there, I’m afraid that is outside my area of expertise. If you are asking if you take a travel nursing job at one of the facilities and will that affect your getting a permanent position there, then I guess that is another question.

Anytime you work at a facility and make a good impression I would say it would have a positive influence on getting a permanent slot. Just like any temporary job, (not just travel nursing), when a worker makes a very positive impression the employer may try to get you for the long haul.

You should look very closely at your travel nursing agency contract and find out what happens if the facility wants to retain you. Ask your recruiter, too. But don’t take their word, ask them to show it to you IN THE CONTRACT.
